Celebrating 6 months of the lottery with The Rose of Hungerford
26 September 2019
This month, we have been visiting just some of the good causes who have been raising funds through the West Berkshire Lottery since our first draw, almost 6 months ago. This week, we had the pleasure in meeting the crew of The Rose of Hungerford and enjoy a sunny trip along the Kennet and Avon Canal Hungerford.
As well as the crew, made up entirely of volunteers, we also were lucky enough to meet three sisters, all in their eighties (Vivienne, Hilary and Miriam) who grew up in Hungerford but have since moved as far as Australia! They returned to West Berkshire to take a took a trip down memory lane which included visiting their old school and a voyage aboard The Rose!
Skipper of the Rose, Tony, passed on some interesting facts about the history of the Kennet during the trip and passengers were allowed disembark for a brief walk to enjoy the beautiful scenery and even help the crew to work the lock!
The Rose of Hungerford are raising funds through the West Berkshire Lottery so they can continue to provide this brilliant facility to the community and visitors and to encourage more people to enjoy everything the Kennet and Avon has to offer! Support them through their fundraising page here: www.westberkshirelottery.co.uk/suppo…/the-rose-of-hungerford
For every £1 ticket purchased, 50p goes directly to them with a further 10p going to the community fund.
Thank you to Sarah and all the crew for making us so welcome!
Our causes are on track to raise £55,068.00 this year
