With just 30 days until the first draw for the West Berkshire Lottery, more than 60 local good causes have now signed up to take part! One of the many good causes to sign up is local charity Living Paintings. In order to help them to raise much needed funds to support their free postal library for blind and partially sighted people.
Living Paintings is the only charity in the UK which design, create, and publish tactile and audio books for blind and partially sighted people. With a team of 360 volunteers, Living Painting services are completely free of charge and their work currently benefits around 15,000 people. Louise James from Living Paintings commented:
“Every fifteen minutes, someone is told that they will lose their sight, including four children every day. Living Paintings helps by making well-known stories and educational resources accessible to them. Our ‘Touch to See’ books are designed to be shared. They include raised, tactile images, Braille inserts and engaging audio descriptions so that the senses of touch and sound combine and our visual world comes to life. Our national postal library is run by wonderful volunteers who donate their time and skills.
“To help support our charity, we are excited to sign up to the West Berkshire Lottery! This is such a simple way for us to raise welcome funds for our free postal library, while encouraging new supporters across the county and further afield. Living Paintings already reaches 15,250 blind and partially sighted people across the UK, including 515 in Berkshire. But there is so much more to do. Please find out more www.livingpaintings.org and support our West Berkshire Lottery fundraising today!”
The first of the weekly draws will take place on Saturday 30th March with players able to win a jackpot of £25,000 for a matching sequence of six numbers. Other prizes are £2,000, £250, £25 or three free tickets.
Good causes can join the lottery at any time – it’s free to join, easy to sign up and takes only a few minutes. Go to www.westberkshirelottery.co.uk for more information or to support your chosen charity.
