Home-Start share how the lottery is helping them to raise funds regularly

06 March 2019

As we approach the first West Berkshire Lottery draw, we are meeting some of the 67 local good causes who have signed up so far. This week, we spoke to Grace Ryder, Scheme Manager for Home-Start West Berkshire, to find out more about the work they do for the community and what signing up to the West Berkshire Lottery means for them. Grace commented:

“Home-Start West Berkshire is an innovative and unique family support charity, respected within the community for our ability to make a difference to families’ lives. We have been operating in West Berkshire for over 20 years and in the last year alone have supported over 350 disadvantaged children. The aim is to empower families to cope with their challenges early, reducing the need for greater support later on.

“Trained volunteers offer emotional and practical support on a one-to-one basis and many of the families using our service may have encountered barriers to accessing support, suffering multiple disadvantages such as poverty, physical or mental ill health, abuse or isolation.

“Need for our service increases daily and our charity funding struggles to keep pace with demand. Supporting our charity through the West Berkshire Lottery is a great way to donate funds regularly and provide key funds to increase our capacity to support more families in need.”

The first West Berkshire Lottery draw will take place on Saturday 30th March – purchase your tickets online to be with a chance to win and to support local good causes like Home-Start West Berkshire!
