Children’s hospice fundraising to support extraordinary families in West Berkshire

29 March 2019

Following the first draw on Saturday 30th March, the West Berkshire Lottery is set to raise over £45,000 for local good causes and charities. One of these local charities fundraising through the lottery is Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice. They provide a vital source of clinical respite and end-of-life care, for families in West Berkshire, where one or more of the children have a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.

Fionnuala Lawes, Community Fundraiser at Alexander Devine said: “We talk about adding life back into children’s days, where we aren’t able to add days to their lives.  We send nurses, carers and play therapists into the community to deliver specialist respite and end-of-life care, allowing families to stay together in the warmth and familiarity of their own homes for as long as possible. We adopt a whole-family approach to paediatric palliative care, from emotional and practical support during a child’s life, to bereavement support after they have died.

We are fundraising to grow our Community Care Team, so that we can reach more of these extraordinary families in West Berkshire.”

From every £1 ticket sold in the West Berkshire Lottery 60p will go to good causes like Alexander Devine. The draw is this Saturday at 8pm! Buy your tickets by 23:59 on Friday to be in with a chance of winning up to £25,000 and help good causes.
