Lottery will help with the rescue & rehoming of injured feathered friends

19 August 2019

The West Berkshire Lottery is now helping over 100 local good causes and charities to raise funds to ensure they can continue to provide their much needed services to the communities around the district. Our 101st local good cause is Wings of Freedom who provide 24 hour rescue, care and rehoming for owls and birds of prey.

Wings of Freedom is a charitable social enterprise, made up of like-minded people who give up their free time in order to provide their free service to the community and care for our feathered friends:

“As a local organisation, with most of our work centred around West Berkshire and beyond, it is difficult to secure main stream funding for our ongoing owl and birds of prey rescue work.

Money raised through West Berks Lottery will help fund the operations of our owl rescue ambulance, which is old and needs yearly services and operates weekly. The West Berks lottery will go towards purchasing an urgent replacement.

Funding from West Berks Lottery will also help us to operate our 24 hour free owl and bird of prey rescue, long term care and after care of these birds, which includes, shot, poisoned and rehoming of injured and disabled owls and birds of prey in West Berkshire area and beyond.”

If you would like to find out more about the work that Wings of Freedom do go to www.wingsoffreedom.org.uk/ or if you would like to support them through their own dedicated lottery page go to www.westberkshirelottery.co.uk/support/wings-of-freedom

50% of every ticket sole through their fundraising page will go directly to them so they can carry on to help the wildlife in West Berkshire. A further 10% will go into the community fund to be distributed to good causes.
