Fundraising will ensure Royal Navy veterans can continue to be social in Newbury

09 July 2019

This weeks Featured Fundraiser is The Royal Naval Association (RNA) Newbury & District branch, who have recently signed up to fundraise through the West Berkshire Lottery.

The RNA provide a much needed service for elderly Royal Navy, WRNS (Women’s Royal Navy Service) and Royal Marine personal, so that they can have regular social meetings with like-minded people, helping to keep their minds active.

The Newbury & District branch are fundraising to ensure that they can provide transportation for some of their members.

Bob McGuinness from the local RNA branch commented:

“We have two elderly members who have both recently suffered a stroke, so we are fund raising so that transportation can be arranged for these old sailors if it is required at short notice, especially if there is the chance they will need additional physiotherapy.”

If you want to support the RNA Newbury & District branch, you can buy tickets on their fundraising page here: https://www.westberkshirelottery.co.uk/support/royal-naval-association

For every £1 ticket purchased through their fundraising page, 50% goes directly to them, with a further 10p going towards other community projects.

So far the lottery looks set to raise over £57k in its first year for the 96 local good causes and charities who have signed up! Thank you to everyone who has supported the good causes and the local community through the West Berkshire Lottery so far!
